During this pandemic I've gotten back on a normal sleep schedule. That means I get to enjoy regularly scheduled TV shows. Local news is tight, MTV shows nothing but Ridiculousness, and game shows are still my shit.
I've been a late sleeper the last several years. Playing music has ruined any sort of normal sleep schedule I could imagine, and I've missed out on the finer things in life. Those things are game shows.
Every morning, I wake up and try to do something positive. I have my eggos with a cup of coffee, read/watch local news, and prepare myself for the 11 o'clock hour. Why? Because THE PRICE IS RIGHT.
Remember the Drew Carey show? The one where Drew worked in a department store located in Cleveland, and Rexkwando worked for UPS? I never imagined Drew Carey, a former marine and accountant for Winfred-Louder, would be the next Bob Barker. But, thinking back, Bob Barker crushed it in Happy Gilmore, so it isn't profoundly farfetched. I can't wait for the day that Drew tells me to come on down.
Last year, Alex Trebek, a Canadian Icon was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. This broke the heart of the Jeopardy universe seeing as we all grew up with Alex. However, Trebek didn't cower when the cancer took hold, and recorded episodes all the way through January. Jeopardy is the only gameshow that you can watch and feel smarter after it's conclusion.
SPIN THAT F*CKIN WHEEL PAT!
My mother and I have watched Pat and Vanna take their set every night for the last two weeks. I love seeing how stupid and greedy people can be when there aren't a lot blank spaces left on the board. Last night, for the first time in a while, the guy answered the final round correct and walked away in a Volkswagen. Imagine doing all that work by guessing letters for an hour, and the reward you with a Volkswagen... What a world?
Gameshows are my jam again. It's been great to have a break from reality and watch people succeed, but more so see them fail. It's okay, guys. When I finally get on a gameshow I give you all permission to laugh at my pain when I leave LA in a Volkswagen.
